Breakfast at Buffalo Cafe

We decided to get out of Spokane for the long weekend and headed to Whitefish, MT on Friday.  Saturday morning with a clear view of the mountains and invigorated by the fresh air we found ourselves hungry and looking for somewhere to go.  Our friends, Whitefish natives, recommended we hit up Buffalo Cafe.  It is a local hot spot in those parts known for their delicious hand pressed burgers.  We lucked out on this particular occasion as the wait was not too long and we were seated right away.

Upon first step into Buffalo Cafe it was apparent that this was a local favorite.  Complete with a specials board and a counter top full of local old guys sipping on coffee and yucking it up.  We first had to start our meal off with the "Buffalo Blend" French Pressed Coffee.  It was smooth and tasty.

The menu had something for everyone, homemade french toast, bread pudding, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal and your usual egg dishes.  It also offered a few things with a twist, such as the Carne Asada Breakfast Tacos, which are a must try for my next visit.  I opted to go healthy and went with the Veggie Eggs, swapping out my toast and hash browns for fresh sliced tomato.  It was good.  They put vegetables such as carrots and zucchini in the scrambled eggs, which I had never had before.  A solid breakfast, healthy without tasting too healthy.

Also tried were the Biscuits and Gravy.  Obviously homemade with a sausage gravy that stuck to your ribs.

The Stumptown Special was tried as well, Two Pieces of French Toast, served with two slices of Kansas City Bacon and two eggs. I sampled this dish and it was insanely good!

Buffalo Cafe has been opened since 1979 and have been slanging homemade, high quality food ever since.  They offer great food and service in a cozy, inviting atmosphere. Its the kind of place you want to stay and linger over coffee but you feel a tad guilty doing that as the waiting line for tables is long. We had a great time in Whitefish and this definitely added to our fun time.  Check it out next time you're in town!  You'll be glad you did.
