Parked in downtown Spokane on the corner of Sprague and Washington (or First depending on how you look at it)(in a Diamond parking lot) is Tacos El Sol. The yellow taco truck! This is a great place to go during the week for lunch. You know you've driven by and wanted to stop. They offer authentic, fresh Mexican food. The selecltion includes tacos, sopes, tortas, burritos, nachos and the list goes on. Their slogan, "Best tacos at the corner of Washington and First", is true. Its not true just because they're the only taco place parked there. Its true because they're the best taco truck in Spokane, period.
My favorite thing to order is the steak torta! A torta is a Mexican sandwich. It comes w/ flavorful steak, cheese, sour cream, tomatoes and jalapenos if you want them. It is so delicious and always tastes like more. The flavor is incredible and the bread is always so fresh. Last week I had the pork tacos. They were everything a taco should be and then some.
Also good are the chicken tortas, ordered by one of my eating companions.
Another favorite menu item are the sopes. For the foodie challenged, sopes are little, fried masa cakes topped with various meats and vegetables. Tacos El Sol's come with your choice of meat; chicken or beef along with tomatoes, cheese, lettuce, sour cream and guacamole. Below are the delicious looking chicken sopes. The chicken is tender and juicy and quite delightful.
Kick up any order with their complete selection of salsa, sauces and pico. The pico is so fresh with just the right amount of cilantro and lime tang.
Tacos El Sol offers authentic Mexican food at reasonable prices. For those craving truly authentic food, tongue is on the menu!! Also offered are speciality tacos and burritos, such as the Walla Walla. Order an icy cold Jarrito wash it all down with. Bottle opener provided. You will be in taco truck heaven. The ingredients are fresh and the flavors really stand out. Go get your taco on.
