Waddell's Pub and Grille

Waddell's, located on Spokane's South Hill has quickly turned into a go-to place for a great burger and a brew. It offers Spokane's largest draft selection, 35 brews and a crack handle!  It has been loved by locals long before appearing on Food Network's popular show, "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives", though the show certainly didn't hurt business and they proudly display this fact on their menu.

Waddell's has that wonderful pub feel while being family friendly.  The menu is massive and offers an endless selection of burgers.  Here you can choose brisket on a burger and break out in the meat sweats.  They are also known for their scrumptious Guinness Mac & Cheese, made with Washington's most loved cheese, Cougar Gold.  This mac and cheese is unlike any other I've tried as the pasta is actually cooked in the Guinness, then tossed in the cheesy goodness along with bacon, garlic and seasoned bread crumbs.

On this particular visit (yes we have been here before) we started off our meal with the Appetizer Sampler, a generous offering of cheese sticks, onion rings, loaded potato skins and their delicious chipotle chicken wings. The wings were awesome and our favorite!

Next on our order was the Shepherd's Pie, unfortunately they were out of the stew to make it, it must be good!  I took my chances and let the server order for me, she chose the Lamb-Strosity, which is Guinness braised lamb shredded and topped with cheddar, served on a hoagie roll w/ their signature mayo and a side of lamb au jus.  It was tender and juicy. The roll was very fresh.  The addition of the au jus really mellows out the flavor of the lamb and all of it combined just melts in your mouth.

Next we tried the bacon Cheeseburger, a 6 oz hamburger with bacon, mayo, crisp romaine lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pickles. It was delicious!  We also tasted the Rube Waddell Burger, which was basically a Reuben sandwich on a burger. Its eater couldn't even come close to finishing it even though she wanted to.

The fish and chips were wonderful, golden brown and flaky.  The fries that come with really stand out from the crowd as they are seasoned to perfection using a mix of sweet and spicy.

All in all we had a great evening out on the town and really enjoyed our food.  We definitely recommend that you hit up Waddell's for some beefy goodness.
